Biography

Actor, writer and director, he was born in Belluno in 1956.
From the Seventies until 1994 Marco Paolini joined several theater groups: Teatro degli Stracci, Studio 900 di Treviso, Tag Teatro di Mestre and Laboratorio Teatro Settimo; with Laboratorio Teatro Settimo he wrote ADRIATICO (1987) and acted in RISO AMARO (1988), LIBERA NOS (1989), LA STORIA DI ROMEO E GIULIETTA (1991), LA TRILOGIA DELLA VILLEGGIATURA (1993).
In 1984 he worked in USA for a short time staging an original creation named TWO LITTLE ORPHANS.
With ADRIATICO began the series of ALBUM which went on with TIRI IN PORTA (1990), LIBERI TUTTI (1992), APRILE '74 E 5 (1995), STAZIONI DI TRANSITO (1999).
In 1990 he began to work with the co-op Moby Dick - Teatri della Riviera: with them he produced IL RACCONTO DEL VAJONT 1956/ 9 OTTOBRE 1963 that gained the Special Prize Ubu 1995 for Political Theater, the IDI Prize 1996 for best new Italian play. The play was broadcasted live by Rai 2, on October 9, 1997. For this show Paolini won the Oscar television Prize for best show of 1997.
After that other productions followed: APPUNTI FORESTI (1996), IL MILIONE QUADERNO VENEZIANO DI MARCO PAOLINI (1997), the research for BESTIARI that allowed to create, until now, BESTIARIO VENETO IN RIVIERA (1998), BESTIARIO VENETO PAROLE MATE (1998), BESTIARIO VENETO L'ORTO (1998) and BESTIARIO ITALIANO I CANI DEL GAS (1999).
In February 1997 he realized for RAI 20 short broadcasting tales, called STORIE ALLA RADIO, which were broadcast in the program Radiomania.
In 1999 he founds JOLE (which in 2002 changes name and becomes JOLEFILM) the producing company that sees to his theatre, cinema and publishing projects.
He has produced STAZIONI DI TRANSITO ALBUM DI STORIE(1999), I-TIGI CANTO PER USTICA (2000) and the re-staging of the same under the title I-TIGI RACCONTO PER USTICA (2001).
Later in 2002 he has re-staged, under a different form, the shows, APRILE ’74 E 5 – TRA UN CAMPO DA RUGBY E LA PIAZZA, STAZIONI DI TRANSITO - ALBUM DI STORIE, APPUNTI FORESTI – DAL MILIONE QUADERNO VENEZIANO and he produced PARLAMENTO CHIMICO - STORIE DI PLASTICA.
In 2003 he produced U (featured by musicians Giorgio Gaslini, Uri Caine and by the artist Arnaldo Pomodoro), BINARIO ILLEGALE, Song n.32 – concerto variabile (featured by Mercanti di Liquore) and RACCONTI D’ESTATE.
He wrote and acted for the Orchestra D’Archi Italiana (Italian String Orchestra) founded and directed by Maestro Mario Brunello, the short story LA DONNA DELL’ALTRO SECOLO that is read along with the execution by a sextet of Schoenberg’s VERKLARTE NACHT.
In 2003 he written five monologues with the collaboration of Andrea Purgatori and Francesco Niccolini for the Italian television show REPORT.
Paolini was featured in the movies MANILA PALOMA BLANCA directed by Daniele Segre (1992), CARO DIARIO directed by Nanni Moretti (1993), IL TORO directed by Carlo Mazzacurati (1995), I PICCOLI MAESTRI directed by Daniele Lucchetti (1998), LA LINGUA DEL SANTO directed by Carlo Mazzacurati (2000), VIVERE by Franco Bernini (2001), A CAVALLO DELLA TIGRE by Carlo Mazzacurati (2002).
He acted and co-wrote along with Carlo Mazzacurati the film RITRATTI (1999).
He wrote along with Gabriele Vacis IL RACCONTO DEL VAJONT (Garzanti, Milano 1997), with Oliviero Ponte Di Pino IL QUADERNO DEL VAJONT (Einaudi, Torino 1999), BESTIARIO VENETO PAROLE MATE (Biblioteca dell’Immagine, Pordenone 1999), L’ANNO PASSATO (Biblioteca dell’Immagine, Pordenone 2000), I CANI DEL GAS (Einaudi 2000) and with Daniele Del Giudice QUADERNO DEI TIGI (Einaudi, Torino 2001).
He recorded the play IL MILIONE QUADERNO VENEZIANO DI MARCO PAOLINI (CPI/Poligram, series “I Taccuini”1998), some selected poetries of Ernesto Calzavara (Ombre Sui Veri, Garzanti 2001), MARCOVALDO ovvero LE STAGIONI IN CITTA’ of Italo Calvino with music made by Tanit (Full Color Sound editions 2003), and finally he recorded the cd SPUTI, a collection of themes performed on SONG N.32 show, featured by Mercanti di Liquore (Dischi Mezzanima, V2 2004).
He realized the video/film QUESTO RADICHIO NON SI TOCA which he is co-author of with Giuseppe Baresi (produced by Jole, 1998-99; published by Einaudi, 2003); the video of the show BESTIARIO VENETO PAROLE MATE (produced by Jole, 1999; published by Biblioteca dell’Immagine), the videocassette of the live tv broadcasting of IL RACCONTO DEL VAJONT - 9 OTTOBRE '63 (produced by Moby Dick - Teatri della Riviera and RAI 2; published by Einaudi 1999); the video of the play BESTIARIO ITALIANO I CANI DEL GAS (produced by Jole, 2000; published by Einaudi 2000); the video of the show I-TIGI CANTO PER USTICA (produced by Jole, 2000; published by Einaudi 2001); and the video 2004 ODISSEA NEL PROCESSO on the text written by Guglielmo Leo e Giuliano Turone.
In 2004 he produced the DVD/book set TEATRO CIVICO – 5 MONOLOGHI PER REPORT edited by Einaudi/Stile Libero.
