The Project

TEATRO CIVICO is composed by a series of brief tales linked to Milena Gabanelli’s proposal to collaborate on her TV programme REPORT.
The stories faced issues in several ways linked to REPORT’s episodes between September and October 2003. Francesco Niccolini and Andrea Purgatori worked out the research and the texts for these tales, which have all been performed in an uncommon location. It is an abandoned theatre, fixed by the municipality of Schio (Vicenza), where shooting took place between July and September 2003. The total duration of the work is about 40 minutes, and every tale is followed by a journalist’s investigation. The director is Davide Ferrario, who already directed “I TIGI a Gibellina” for JOLEFILM and TELE+ productions. Director of photography is Giuseppe Baresi, editor Claudio Cormio.

“TEATRO CIVICO’ s tales look like theatre civil orations, but as they have been thought for TV they will never become a performance to tour with. They have been built up to enhance journalistic inquiries and we tried to reinvent their arguments, without being overwhelming repetitions. I felt free from the proposed themes, trying to imagine what could have happened putting theatre and inquiry side by side. With the authors Francese Niccolini and Andrea Purgatori we worked out every tale differently and without looking after a particular style. The short duration of every tale avoided the possibility to create complex plots, as I usually do in theatre.” Marco Paolini.
